After some persistence, we now have our regular session back at Cornwall House and so far, it is back on a Thursday too! This is part of the Exeter University Capoeira Society programme so a good mixture and a happy vibe!
We have currently been experiencing some problems with room availability for our second session of the week, normally on a Thursday. This has been due to the demand on rooms available for University Societies to use at the Streatham Campus and, due to the nature of how the EU Capoeira Society and Capoeira Libertacao work together, this has meant we have had to fall-back on only having our Tuesday session.
We have been asked about hiring another room but that increases the running costs to a point where, unless we up the money for classes, the group is not sustainable. However, the Society Committee have been working hard to sort the problem so, for the next few weeks at least, the second session will be on a Sunday afternoon/evening at Cornwall House. Keep updated on our website Calendar Page or through our Social Media Congratulations to Oriol for gaining his first corda and Anya and Dorleta for gaining their second. Also thank you very much from us all to Contra Mestra Brisa and Contra Mestre Figura for their support of our event and for sharing their knowledge.
One of the areas discussed at the event was how important it is for the groups across the Westcountry to support each other - on our own we are small but together we can be something more special. From this came the idea of an event in the new year so watch this space! We are pleased to announce a gathering on Sunday, 18th November at Cornwall House in the grounds of Exeter University.
Contra Mestra Brisa of MQFSM Falmouth is our first confirmed guest teacher. Stay tuned for more. The day will start at 1pm and consist of workshops and finish with a roda. Price is £12 Group rate - five in a car, pay for four and get one free! Like everyone, we tend to take it a little more easy during the summer months and what a lovely summer it has been! Now with the coming of September tomorrow we are about to wake up again and what better way than a trip to friends in Totnes and a class with Mestre Joaozinho!
