As of January 2020, this group will adopt the new name of Capoeira Natural do Brasil Exeter. It has been an amazing journey so far for our group and now a really exciting future lays ahead under the tutelage of Contramestre Anjo.
Many thanks for everyone who has helped get us to this point. From the many Mestres, Contramestres, Professors, Professoras, Instructors, Instructoras, Trenels and Capoeiristas. Your enthusiasm and willingness to share your knowledge has helped us develop a broad understanding of Capoeira.
Also, many thanks to all those who have helped from outside the roda including the Newtown Community Association, University of Exeter, Exeter Respect Festival, Exeter City Council and friends.
We look forward to continuing working with you all!
This website will cease to exist from the end of January.

Over the next few weeks we will be changing from Capoeira Libertacao Exeter to Capoeria Natural do Brasil Exeter (CNB Exeter) as we become part of the family, and under the tutelage of, Contramestre Anjo. Look out for one of our new logos!
2019 has been an amazing year for capoeira in Exeter! It started with new faces bringing fresh energy and a good vibe which was part of the decision to change our main Tuesday venue back to our 'spiritual' home in Belmont Park. This also meant we could move into the new 'Hut' (community centre) when it opened in September.
With the good vibe continuing, the new academic year started and the Exeter University Capoeira Society had an excellent start with further members adding to our capoeira family. Since September we have moulded as a group, both Libertacao and the Society, to create a positive energy and welcoming vibe.
To top the year off, we are now taking a further step with the arrival of Contramestre Anjo who is taking over the teaching and direction of our group. His knowledge and energy has already started to take effect and we look forward to everything to come!
We have now settled into the new Belmont Park Hut and established our new time of 7-9pm in the large room. Good to see some faces back after the holiday period!
As of Tuesday 18th June, and every Tuesday after that, we will be back training again in The Hut at Belmont Park. For the next few months we'll be in the old hut but really looking forward to moving to the new premises in September!
7.15 - 9pm so see you there!
After some persistence, we now have our regular session back at Cornwall House and so far, it is back on a Thursday too! This is part of the Exeter University Capoeira Society programme so a good mixture and a happy vibe!
We have currently been experiencing some problems with room availability for our second session of the week, normally on a Thursday. This has been due to the demand on rooms available for University Societies to use at the Streatham Campus and, due to the nature of how the EU Capoeira Society and Capoeira Libertacao work together, this has meant we have had to fall-back on only having our Tuesday session.
We have been asked about hiring another room but that increases the running costs to a point where, unless we up the money for classes, the group is not sustainable.
However, the Society Committee have been working hard to sort the problem so, for the next few weeks at least, the second session will be on a Sunday afternoon/evening at Cornwall House.

Congratulations to Oriol for gaining his first corda and Anya and Dorleta for gaining their second. Also thank you very much from us all to Contra Mestra Brisa and Contra Mestre Figura for their support of our event and for sharing their knowledge.
One of the areas discussed at the event was how important it is for the groups across the Westcountry to support each other - on our own we are small but together we can be something more special. From this came the idea of an event in the new year so watch this space!
We are pleased to announce a gathering on Sunday, 18th November at Cornwall House in the grounds of Exeter University.
